It just seems like there is nothing to blog about except for those affected by the hurricane. The awful devastation and life-altering events…everything out of my mouth (as it were) becomes trivial. So for now a little silence.

Drool

I am drooling again. This happens alot. Too much in fact.

Last night was orientation for Lily’s pre-school. She will only be attending once a week but there is a list of things we need to get: a backpack, a sleep nap (yeah right!), a box of community wipes. I met the two women in charge, signed up to help with the Valentine’s Day party this year, and also volunteered as ‘Room Parent’ assuming they need anything, and called it good. I think this once a week schooling for a few hours is going to rock our world.

One thing we got Lily a few nights ago is a brand new pair of pink and black Chuckie Taylors. You need a new pair of shoes for school right? That is just some unspoken rule.

And in other news, Emma has a new tooth trying to surface. This will make a total of three teeth but is her first upper front. Not only is this little smidge of white becoming more visible but Emma’s sleeping is even worse. Just when you think something can’t possibly get any worse, it does. Holy hell but I was tired this morning.

Today I am dragging the girls kicking and screaming, if need be, to the gym. So stay tuned.

embarASSing

So for the past half hour I’ve been trying to repair this pretty little pic I took of the girls using all the fancy techniques Cess taught me on photoshop. Naturally none of it will work and I just keep getting a message about how insane I must be for even trying and why don’t I throw my computer in the trash because I am a damn fool. (Am I the only one with such a rude computer?) So i get to writing a crazed email to Cess, replete with the foulest curse words, and send it away. I wonder why she isn’t replying when I get a note from the place where I had ordered birth announcements telling me I didn’t need to mess with any photos that they would do it all and blablabla…so basically the wrong people got my effing email.

Flood

Hopefully it’s not near as bad for New Orleans as this article implies but they are kinda going thru the wringer in any event. Hearts and thoughts to the good people having to experience this right now, I can’t even imagine what it must be like.

I have HAD it with the cheapest version of huggies diapers. HAD IT. I am entirely too rough or haphazard to deal with their weak design. How many diapers do I lose after accidentally yanking one of the sticky tags off completely? Yes, Babytalk magazine reccommends doubling up on diapers when that happens with the broken one on the inside but the babybubblebutt is too much for me to endure so I just have to throw the broken diaper away. This is not saving me any kind of money so to hell with the regular huggies. From now on I will only get the huggies supremes or the papmpers cruisers…they appear to cost more but in the end, I don’t believe they do.

weekend splendour

oh it was awesome. perfect. wonderful.

Cess and Sam are the bestest aunt and uncle to the girls. They just listen and play and are so attentive…perfection. Cecily and I got in the required chattage quotient and we ate like royalty personified. There is nothing like an old good friend to brighten your life, in general. I know I am not Cess’s one and only good friend but just having her in my life enriches it tremendously. Why can’t we know more people like that? It must go part and parcel with the very notion, as a rule…because not everyone is a shining star, you appreciate the brightness (that much more) when you have the good fortune to come across it.

They left a few hours ago and we’ve spent the time cleaning and organizing and making dinner. Emma-em sleeps and Lily plays some new tedious xbox game with her Dad (some kind of sniper-rainbox6 something or other- i- don’t know).

The Happy effing weekend is OVER; it’s official.

midnight stalking

I’m up. Already checked WOOT, read ya’ll stuff, commented some…and basically I have nothing to report other than this weekend will be a hillbilly marathon of cheap drinking, loud guffawing, and too much food when my best pal and her husband drive up from Austin. I used to miss Austin terribly, I would compare everything this smallish town didn’t have and pine for the Texas hill country where I basically grew from teenager to adulthood. I’d bitch about this being a dry county and too conservative with too many families and not enough drinking college kids who like to chat all day in cafes.

Now we have cafes, and it’s only partly dry, and I’ve got a family of my own and I cannot IMAGINE ever moving back to Austin. (Not that is even a remote possibility.) Now all I miss is my best friend who lives there.

a good story for those of you who are tired of hearing musicians jump onto the political bandwagon. Don’t get me wrong, I luff Bono but feel the same way about movie stars giving political tirades…

and i know politics are a part of life and blablabla…I just get tired of hearing the same old regurgitated rhetoric (from both sides) coming out of entertainer’s ample pie-holes. Just shut up and play…or act…whatever.

simple syrup

So I finally found a use for the lemongrass that I’ve had growing for years and years and years now. Infusing a simple syrup with it for this little baby. Cecily and her husband are coming up for the weekend and I need to get planning on dinners and drinks and desserts…woofrigginhoo!
