Well, the tables have turned and the voice of reason has been given a chance to speak out against the insanity. This is Annes sister, Barbara, and although I have no real experience being pregnant, having children, or raising good Americans, I think I can safely say most of what Anne blabs about is fluff. I especially hate all the opinions the ‘baby’ is said to have; as to what mother is eating, how she combs her hair, what she watches on tv and so on. The said fetus has NO opinions…it is on a quest to survive and even then doesn’t “realize” it. Enough about that….I’m sure Anne is just giddy on life and that which is growing inside. Its something every normal mother probably feels. She doesn’t, however, look pregnant, just a little smoother.

ps: Pizza was good tonight, I’m sure baby LOVED it…..

Shan left this morning for Colorado. He won’t make his way back home until next weekend, leaving me, Darwin, and baby to our own dangerous devices. I can’t tell you how many times I have checked email messages and sat blankly in front of the internet trying to to come up with something to spur my interest. It’s terrible! So maybe I am a little co-dependent but if that is the case, it’s only for a lack of real friends up here. I realized that in the shower this afternoon. Yes, my pajamas were on until past noon. GAH.

Other than that, I made a really good salad for dinner and some really teririble spaghetti but have learned my lesson with the sauce. Kroger brand does not match up to Classico or even to Ragu! I also cleaned a little and managed to freeze the rest of the berries from me and Amo’s berry picking exploit of a few weekends ago.

Meanwhile, Darwin suffers mild doggie-depression. She keeps wanting to go outside so that she can hear her Daddy drive up.

If only my ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ were here so that I had something to read! I am more than a little concerned about being able to fall asleep tonight. Yay, it’s an Anne PityParty!

PS Crissy, Amo, and Grandaddy have all called to check on me today. So sweet. Babs promised she would but so far, no word.

So last night we went over to my sister-in-law’s to help her fix some things around the house and she gave us a number of baby items. In addition to a box filled with baby toys we took home a wooden crib, an indoor swing, and a changing table. Everything is very clean and clearly labeled, she is extremely fastidious, but I can’t help and wonder. Is it too early to have these things? Today is the start of the 15th week and I can’t help but be a little worried about jinxing it.

In the meantime I am awaiting the arrival of my first package of maternity clothes from the Gap. The nice thing about the store is that they give free returns on maternity-wear so if some of the pants don’t fit it won’t be a problem. Cecily and I were pretty impressed with just their sale items!

After deciding to prepare lemon chicken stir fry for supper and realizing there were no green onions, I made a trip to the grocery store. I picked out some nice onions, papaya, mango, a bag of oranges, and some bananas to which a few items from the impulse rack at check-out were added. The thing is, they weren’t impulsive decisions. Not impulsively chosen but premeditated. For the past few weeks I have craved a snickers bar and more recently a peanut butter cup. So I got two of each, pretending than I would share them with Shannon. Now they are shoved in the back of the pantry where only I know where to find them.

Sickening, isn’t it?

I started out looking to buy some new mexico chile powder and after finding it on an exotic website called www.kalustyans.com I wandered over to the Central Market website and looked at this weeks specials at the Plano location. It was there I almost wet my pants upon seeing they had FIGS…a good price even! Lovely California Brown Turkey figs! I must have some, even after my fruit shopping spree today where I left the grocery store with 4 baskets of strawberries, 2 pints blueberries, fuji apples, apricots, purple grapes, and kiwi fruit!! And some valencia oranges that are to die for!!!! To add much insult to injury they also have Atlantic Salmon filets on sale and exquisite bouquets of Freesia from Columbia!

Whatever will I do. The sale ends tomorrow; I’ll have to hurry.

Happy Fourth of July! I baked these little goodies using the nicest devil’s food cake recipe! Frosting is a vanilla buttercream, Shan and I both think they are better when lightly chilled as it gives the frosting divine creamy attributes. Thanks to Cecily again for doing what she does!

Today was the 13th week Obst. visit. I was surprised to learn that I am still in the first trimester so far as my dr is concerned. He says the first trimester is 16 weeks, due to the total pregnancy being 40 weeks and the general confusion added when a woman is considered pregnant based on the first day of their last period. So whatever, I actually have three more weeks in the first trimester. I’m just glad the nausea has left for awhile.

We did get to hear the babies heartbeat with the doppler tool and that was wonderful!!! They always have to move the device lower on my abdomen, below my bellybutton, than I think they will. The nurse said Inch has a good strong heartbeat.

Interestingly, when I was weighed again, the nurse noted that there has been no chang since I first became pregnant. So what gives!!! Dr. said that all women gain weight in different degrees and that there is no average weight to gain, nor does it make any difference to the baby how much you gain, so long as it’s not on either extreme.

Right after the appointment, Shan and I went to see Men in Black II!!!

And I just finished reading ‘The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe’. This is something I will definitely read to my children.

I don’t understand the whole use of scales during pregnancy. Most of the time I am wearing something different with different shoes, with or without a purse, whenever they measure me. I happen to know that the first time, the nurse misread the scale and tacked on like 4 pounds. I don’t know what that was all about but whatever. The scale at the gym is rigged, naturally, I know this, but still…whenever I step on it now, it only registers that I have gained 3 pounds. Now, the digital fatmeasuring scale from hell that we have at home fluctuates. Sometimes I have gained 2 lbs, sometime 5 and late last night it was a whopping 7…this all can occur in one day so I have no comprehension of the way that scale works at all.

My sister claims that a person’s weight fluctuates throughout the day but this is getting ridiculous.

Incidentally, the home scale says right now that I have gained 3 lbs.

Couldn’t you just scream?!
