Not only is today my 29th birthday but it is also the first day of baby’s ninth week!

Lunch today was held at the local McDonald’s. Participant’s included: Shan and I, GG and Amo, Crissy and her two kids; Connor and Makenna. Connor turned 5 today and Makenna is a little more than 2 I think. Naturally, lunchtime at McDonald’s can also be called hell and after we got all the food ordered, pumped enough ketchup, snagged plenty of napkins and straws, the only tables left to accommodate us were in the enclosed McDonaldland gymnasium maze type thing. THe sreaming and yelling and crying and running all over the place pretty much went on before we got there, during our lunch, and probably continued long after we left. The french would not have considered eating in such a place of ill-conceived-gastronomy. My goodness. Crissy remarked that we’d soon come to appreciate toylands such as these but all I could do was stare at the little ruffians climbing all over each other and hanging like little monkeys.

So I just found out that I am not to be using any kind of nasal sprays. Cecily thinks that it will make the baby addicted to speed but I just hope I haven’t hurt the little thing by using a spray yesterday. Apparently I can take actifed or sudafed but that is all. Looks like I need to make a trip to the local pharmacy since my right nasal passage is completely blocked up again. What is the problem here!

Oh me. Thankfully I found some unbearably hot cinnamon bears at the grocery store yesterday. How long will they last? I only got a 1/4 lb. Any wagers?

It is week 8 and I am all a twitter. Well, not really, not exactly…I have some kind of allergy/bacterial/viral infection that is blocking my right nostril as I type.

After lunch I tried the local restaraunt’s version of flan. It was pretty good, baby thoroughly enjoyed its creamy texture and dark caramel syrup. I told Shan that mine was better, which it is, but that mainly has to do with the incorporation of a whole vanilla bean. You just need those divine little seeds.

This weekend is my 29th birthday. I am looking forward to a nice dinner out with Shan’s parents.

hmmm. is this a food blog? how embarrassing.

What I Want

To start with, a tiny glass of ice water in which the ice is crushed so finely that it melts the moment it comes into contact with the inside of your mouth. Then, a few saltines with a thin sheen of butter, a dollop of eye-watering horseradish, and a splash of the house vibrantly crimson coctail sauce or a few dashes of louisiana hot sauce.
This is followed by the most perfect serving of coleslaw so divine in its inception, a mystical balance of delicate sweetness and soft creaminess, with that enigmatic seasoning ( herb? spice?) no one can name . It is ice cold in an equally chilled beautiful thick porcelain dish with a strip of green along the edging.
The main course can be nothing but 5 god-like and sweetly sublime, butterflied shrimp. Fried to a dizzying crispness with underlying goodness accompanied with a generous mound of dirty rice, so filthy you dream about it later that night and awake blushing.

That’s what I want from the S&D Oyster bar for supper tonight.

So this is the 7th week of pregnancy. Not only are my bosoms suffering from extreme tenderness but my stomach is in a perpetual state of pain.

I have learned a few things however: baby likes scrambeld eggs and baby doesn’t like the smell of cooking meat.

Shan gave up the fight against painting the nursery. In fact, he’s even going to be the one to do most of it. The fumes, you know.

This past monday, the nurse called and told us that we are pregnant. I have a five week old bun in the oven.
It’s not even the size of a grain of rice yet!
